You Don’t Eliminate the Pattern… You Learn to Play It

You don’t eliminate the pattern… You learn to play it like an instrument.

This past weekend, Shane and I had the opportunity to run a breathwork session for a group of about 40 veterinarians.

They were gathered for business coaching... and breathwork wasn’t something they expected. (Let’s just say we’ve learned not to surprise people with breathing sessions…)

So, we opened with a simple promise:

You'll walk away with two things... strategy to regulate your body chemistry and a learning experience you can carry into daily life."

We designed the session to explore the edge of their comfort zone…

Intentionally throw off their body chemistry to observe the reactions that followed.

To seek out a learning experience on how they handle stress.

What we witnessed was amazing…

One woman said her breath mirrored a high-stress moment from just weeks earlier...
Another realized she never gives herself time to recover...
A third shared she noticed that the only time she communicates well under pressure is when she’s aware of her breath.

Some had subtle shifts. Others had big breakthroughs.
But every single one walked away with a new awareness.

This is the essence of Behavioral Breathwork:

It’s not just about doing breathwork.
It’s about understanding your breathing patterns…

How they formed, how they show up under pressure, and how to shift them.

It’s about learning to listen to your breath and guide it differently.

Theres a framework we share in our Breathing Science Course called the A.I.R. Framework...

It gives us:

  • Awareness to recognize what’s playing out
  • Interventions to gently interrupt the pattern
  • Regulation to relearn how to breathe in a way that supports resilience… not reactivity

Every breath tells a story.

This week, we helped 40 professionals start to rewrite theirs.

Featured Insight of the Week

Most people treat breathing like a tool.
Something to grab when things go wrong.
Slow it down. Take a deep one. Force calm.

But breathing isn’t just a technique to use...
It’s a phenomenon.
It’s always with you.
Always adapting.

It shifts with your environment, your emotions, your thoughts...
Even when you’re not paying attention.

That’s why we don’t teach people to control their breath.
We teach them to understand it.
To recognize patterns...

To play it like an instrument.

When you see breathing as a behavior, not just biology…
You stop forcing it to behave.
And you start learning how to work with it.

That’s the foundation of Behavioral Breathwork.
And it’s how we help people move from survival patterns…

To sustainable regulation.

If you’ve been thinking about becoming a certified Behavioral Breathwork Facilitator…

Now’s the time.

We just wrapped up training 34 new facilitators.
Their feedback was so moving, it left me in tears.
This work is making a difference…
and the world needs more of it.

Early bird access opens next week... but only for those on the waitlist.

If you're ready to guide others in using breath to return to balance...
With a framework grounded in behavioral science and designed to help you deliver real results...

Training Recap: Behavioral Breathwork Facilitator Training

A Full-Circle Journey

As we close this round of the Behavioral Breathwork Facilitator Training, one thing is clear:

Sustainable change doesn’t come from doing more…
It comes from understanding what’s already happening.

Over the past eight weeks, our facilitators didn’t just learn techniques.
They learned to recognize behavioral breathing patterns…
And how to guide client-centered sessions using a flexible framework that adapts to the person in front of them..

The feedback?
Many are already seeing meaningful shifts…
In their clients, their communities, and in themselves.

This is what happens when behavioral science meets breathwork and real-world facilitation.

Subtle Changes. Big Shifts. Why experience beats theory every time…
When Personal Practice Comes First When we first started exploring breathwork, I wasn’t ready to facilitate for others. At that time, with young children at home, my priority was my own practice and my own health… both physically and mentally. Shane and I practiced two to four times a week, anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour each session. We kept this rhythm for more than a year, explor...
She’d never had a panic attack… until the breathwork started.
When "Good" Breathing Makes Things Worse At the end of one of our group sessions, a participant came up to us visibly shaken.  During the breathwork session, she’d experienced what felt like a panic attack... tight chest, racing thoughts, overwhelm. She told us afterward that she doesn’t typically experience anxiety, and had never had a panic attack before. She was confused. Not just by what h...
The Smallest Shift That Changed Everything
When "Good" Breathing Makes Things Worse This week in our Facilitator Workroom, we worked with a client whose intake questionnaire revealed a clear pattern around emotional stress. As we explored her breathing together, she began to notice how her body responded when she felt overwhelmed.  I asked her to bring on the feeling of stress... then simply observe. Next, I invited her to do the thin...
