"The most efficient breath you can take is the one you don’t have to force. Reflexive Breathing brings you back to what’s natural and essential for health."

We’re excited to share that 34 people have joined us for the first Behavioral Breathwork Facilitator Training.

This case study group marks the beginning of a new chapter and we wanted to give you a glimpse into what we’re exploring together.

In our Kickoff Call a few weeks ago, we focused on the foundation of this training:

  • Science of Reflexive Breathing
  • Your body’s natural, effortless rhythm that often gets overridden by stress, habits, or trauma
  • Awareness as the First Intervention
  • Before guiding others, we begin by observing our own breath
  • How simple, small shifts in breathing can create meaningful change

We also guided a Reflexive Breathing practice, answered some great questions, and set the direction for the weeks ahead.

Trust the Breath You Already Have

There’s a difference between breathing techniques and what your body naturally knows how to do.

Breathwork often gets framed as something you need to control, shape, or force... especially when we’re told that deeper, bigger, more controlled breathing is the goal.

But the truth?

Your body already knows how to breathe.

You don’t need to teach it, you need to listen to it.

Reflexive Breathing...

This is the breath that happens when you stop interfering.

It’s your built-in autopilot... your body’s natural reflex to regulate, restore, and heal.

Most breathing dysfunctions come from overriding this reflex, either consciously (in breathwork techniques) or unconsciously (through habits, stress, trauma).

When we guide others in breathwork, if we’re not mindful, we can accidentally add stress to a system that’s already overloaded.

That’s why in our Behavioral Breathwork Facilitator Training, we start with awareness of the reflex and teach to guide from that place.

No forcing. No pushing. No big cathartic sessions right away...

Just simple, powerful, sustainable change.

Here are some of the Key Takeways from the group:

"Reflexive breathing is a powerful way to develop trust in your body’s natural intelligence."

"Building self-trust and capacity through something so natural and so simple (but not always easy)."

"To allow the pause to be naturally its own length."

"Less is more."

Try Reflexive Breathing for Yourself

This is a brand new training we just created and is the foundation of everything we teach.

Take 3 minutes each morning and evening this week to simply observe your breath... notice your reflex, and when it shifts.

Let your breath lead.
Let your reflex teach.

Subtle Changes. Big Shifts. Why experience beats theory every time…
When Personal Practice Comes First When we first started exploring breathwork, I wasn’t ready to facilitate for others. At that time, with young children at home, my priority was my own practice and my own health… both physically and mentally. Shane and I practiced two to four times a week, anywhere from 45 minutes to over an hour each session. We kept this rhythm for more than a year, explor...
She’d never had a panic attack… until the breathwork started.
When "Good" Breathing Makes Things Worse At the end of one of our group sessions, a participant came up to us visibly shaken.  During the breathwork session, she’d experienced what felt like a panic attack... tight chest, racing thoughts, overwhelm. She told us afterward that she doesn’t typically experience anxiety, and had never had a panic attack before. She was confused. Not just by what h...
The Smallest Shift That Changed Everything
When "Good" Breathing Makes Things Worse This week in our Facilitator Workroom, we worked with a client whose intake questionnaire revealed a clear pattern around emotional stress. As we explored her breathing together, she began to notice how her body responded when she felt overwhelmed.  I asked her to bring on the feeling of stress... then simply observe. Next, I invited her to do the thin...
